About Enfield’s figures
Enfield's average Band D is £2,267.67 for 2026/27, £103.65 above the £2,164.02 of 2025/26, an increase of 4.8%. It is 11th of the 32 London boroughs and 258th of 296 English councils, £143.30 below the English simple average.
Enfield's budget assumes that 95% of the tax due will come in, applied to a base of 105,212 Band D equivalents. Only four English councils assumed a lower rate: Haringey at 92.5%, Liverpool at 94%, Greenwich at 94.25% and Hackney at 94.5%. Tower Hamlets is the only other council on exactly 95%.
Of each Band D bill, £1,757.16 is for Enfield Council and £510.51 for the Greater London Authority, or 22.5%. The GLA precept is where the money for the Metropolitan Police and for London's fire service comes from, so no separate police or fire charge appears, and the borough has no parishes.
Bands C and D hold the most homes, 35,390 and 37,330 respectively, out of 129,020 on the valuation list, so Band D is slightly ahead. Band E follows with 21,610, and Band B has 12,510 properties charged £1,763.74 on average. There are 1,040 properties in Band H, at £4,535.34 on average, and 5,430 in Band A, at £1,511.78. A Band C home pays £2,015.71 this year. In Westminster the same £510.51 GLA amount makes up nearly half of Band D; in Enfield it is under a quarter.
Within London, Enfield's Band D sits in the middle of the range, and its housing is centred on bands C and D rather than on the lowest or highest bands.
Band D is the band the national tables use to compare councils. In Enfield it is £2,267.67 a year. Across the 296 councils in England the simple average of Band D is £2,410.97, and 38 of them charge less than Enfield.
The dearest Band D in England is Dorset at £2,765.02; the cheapest is Wandsworth at £1,028.21.
