About Sefton’s figures
Sefton's Band D, £2,583.22, puts it 46th among England's 296 councils and £172.25 clear of their simple average. The increase on 2025/26 was £122.30, just under 5% (4.97%).

Sefton's council supplies £2,145.51, roughly 83p in the pound, of which £40.87 is the adult social care precept element for 2026/27, a sum beaten by just 18 councils. Policing (£293.97), fire (£101.25) and £24.00 for a combined authority make up a trio repeated exactly for Knowsley, Liverpool, St Helens and Wirral. Of those five, Sefton is second dearest, £90.37 under Liverpool and £94.97 above Knowsley. Ten parishes, averaging £18.49, complete the bill. Taken together, the three outside bodies claim £419.22 of a Sefton Band D, about 16.2%.
Even a parish element that small changes how the figures should be read. The band amounts are area-wide averages, so an individual Sefton bill can differ slightly according to its parish.
